A Portfolio of Landscape Infrastructure

This issue assembled five ambitious examples of public landscapes built over, under, into or around heavy-duty urban transportation corridors. These projects show landscape architecture integrated with heavy engineering and the beginnings of substantial investments to realize the expansion of public space across surfaces that didn’t previously exist or on inactive remnants of city fabric.
In the fall of 2017, a series of three public programs based on this issue of the magazine was presented at the National Building Museum.
